Privacy Policy for Data Manager Classic

1. Introduction

This privacy policy informs about the type, scope and purpose of processing personal data when using the app Data Manager Classic. Data Manager Classic lets you build your own relational databases with user-defined tables and fields. All content you create in the app stays on your device.

2. Permissions Used

The app requests the following permissions, all on demand and only when you trigger the corresponding feature:

• Location (coarse) — Only used when you tap "Use current" on a Location-typed field, in order to fill that field with your current latitude and longitude. The coordinates are stored locally with the rest of your data and are never transmitted by the app.
• Photo library / image picker — Only used when you attach an image to an Image-typed field or set a per-database background image. The selected image is copied into the app's private storage and referenced by filename. The system picker does not give the app access to your wider photo library. On iPhone, saving an image from a field back to your photo library asks for add-only access.
• Notifications — Only used for reminders on date fields (a Pro feature), and only once you switch a reminder on. Reminders are scheduled and shown on the device; nothing is sent anywhere.

The app does not request camera, microphone, contacts, or calendar access. On Android, the installed package additionally lists technical permissions that come with system libraries: network access and the billing permission for Google Play's purchase handling (section 6), and wake-lock, start-at-boot and foreground-service permissions that Android's job scheduler uses to run the daily reminder check. None of them gives the app access to your content.

3. Processed Data

Almost everything Data Manager Classic processes is content you create yourself:

• Your databases, tables, fields, references, and the row values you enter
• Images you attach to Image-typed fields and per-database background images (stored as files in app-private storage; referenced by filename)
• GPS coordinates you explicitly capture into Location-typed fields
• App-level settings (theme, language, automatic lock-after-inactivity timeout, reminder time)
• Per-database password hash and wrapped passphrase, when you choose to set a password and enable encryption

In addition, for Data Manager Pro (section 6) the app stores two technical values on the device: whether Pro is unlocked on this device, as last reported by the store, and the start date of the free trial once you start it.

Data Manager Classic performs no telemetry, analytics, crash reporting, or behavioural tracking.

4. Storage and Transmission

All data is stored on your device, in app-private storage:

• A local SQLite database (Room on Android, GRDB on iOS)
• Image files in the app's private files directory
• App settings via the operating system's preferences store; on iPhone the Pro status and trial start date in the system keychain

The app sends no data to the developer or to any third party, and the developer runs no server for it. The only network traffic is the handling of the Pro purchase, which goes through Google Play or the App Store (section 6) and carries no content of yours.

Backups. The operating system's own backup may copy the app's data under your account: on Android Google's app-data backup (the database and settings, without images and without the Pro status), on iPhone the iCloud or device backup. This is controlled in your device settings and governed by Google's or Apple's terms. The in-app "Back up all databases" writes a file only to a place you pick in the system file picker.

5. Encryption

You can optionally protect a database with a password and mark individual fields as encrypted. Encrypted field values are stored on disk as Blowfish/CBC ciphertext under a passphrase-derived key; the passphrase itself is wrapped under a key derived from your password. Forgetting your password makes encrypted fields unreadable — there is no recovery mechanism, by design.

6. Third-Party Interactions

The app does not embed any third-party SDK for analytics, advertising, or cloud sync. Some user actions hand off to other apps or system services:

• Tapping a URL, Email, or Phone field opens the system's default browser, mail, or dial handler. Those apps are governed by their own privacy policies.
• Tapping "Open in Maps" on a Location-typed field opens the device's default maps application with the captured coordinates.
• The CSV transfer feature can write to or read from a file you pick via the system file picker, or copy to / paste from the system clipboard. The choice of destination is yours.
• The "Share definition" feature uses the same system file picker, system clipboard, and the system share sheet (AirDrop, Mail, Files, …) to hand a database — schema only, or schema with data — to a recipient. The choice of recipient and transport is yours. "Back up all databases" and "Restore backup" use the system file picker in the same way.
• In-app purchase (Data Manager Pro). Buying, restoring, and checking the Pro unlock is handled by Google Play (Google Play Billing Library, Android) or the App Store (StoreKit, iPhone). Payment and account data are processed by Google or Apple under their own privacy policies; the app never sees them. It only learns whether this store account owns the Pro unlock, together with the store's purchase record for it, and asks the store again when the app starts (on Android also when it comes back to the foreground).

No data is shared with the developer or third parties through these interactions unless you initiate them yourself.

7. Legal Basis

Where applicable, processing is based on your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR) or to fulfill the local-only data-management functions you request from the app. Processing related to a Pro purchase serves the performance of the purchase contract (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR).

8. Disclosure to Third Parties

The developer shares no data with third parties. A Pro purchase you make is processed by Google or Apple as the store operator (section 6). The app contains no advertising, tracking, or analytics services.

9. Storage Duration

Your databases, images, and settings are stored as long as the app is installed. You can delete individual rows, tables, databases, or images from within the app at any time. Uninstalling the app removes the locally stored data from the device, with the exception described in section 12.

10. Security

All data is stored in app-private storage protected by the operating system's per-app sandbox. Optional per-database password protection and per-field encryption add further protection for sensitive content; see section 5.

11. Rights of Data Subjects

Users have the right to information, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability, and revocation of consent. Because all data lives on your device, you can exercise most of these rights directly within the app (edit, delete, export to CSV, back up, uninstall). Data about a purchase is held by Google or Apple; requests about it go to them. For other inquiries, contact agrauf67@gmail.com.

12. Uninstallation

Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data from the device, including databases, attached images, and app settings. One exception on iPhone: the trial start date and the Pro status are kept in the system keychain, which the operating system may keep after the app is deleted, so that a trial cannot be restarted by reinstalling. Neither value contains any of your content.

13. Changes to Privacy Policy

Changes will be published within the app and on the app's website, and take effect upon the next update.
