Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This privacy policy informs about the type, scope and purpose of processing personal data when using the app Parking Reminder - Car Finder.

2. Permissions Used

The app requests the following permissions:

  • Location (GPS) — Used to determine and save your current parking position. Location data is only accessed when you actively save a parking spot.
  • Camera — Used to take photos of your parking spot. Photos are stored locally on your device.
  • Notifications — Used to alert you when your parking meter timer expires.

3. Processed Data

- GPS coordinates and resolved addresses of saved parking spots
- Photos taken of parking spots
- Notes and parking meter timer settings
- User settings (language, theme, color scheme, navigation app preference)
- The status of the optional in-app purchase "Parking Reminder Pro" (see section 5)
- Text-to-Speech is used for reading addresses aloud but does not record or transmit any data

4. Storage and Transmission

All stored data — parking spots, photos, videos, notes and settings — resides exclusively on the user's device in a local database. It is not transmitted to the provider; the provider operates no server and has no access to this data. Navigation requests are handled by the user's chosen navigation app (e.g. Google Maps, TomTom).

Online services: a few features inherently require a connection to the outside. Only what the respective feature needs is transmitted, without any account, identifier or app-side device ID:

  • Nearby parking — opening this feature sends the current coordinates and the search radius to the Overpass API of the OpenStreetMap project in order to look up parking spots in the area. No such request happens unless the feature is used.
  • Address lookup — turning coordinates into an address is done by the Android system's geocoding service (Google Play services); the coordinates leave the device in the process.
  • Map view — maps are loaded through the Google Maps SDK, for which Google's privacy policy applies.
  • In-app purchase — see section 5.

Android backup: if Android's backup service is enabled, the operating system — not the app — transfers the database and settings to the user's personal Google account. Photos and videos are excluded from this backup. The provider has no access to it whatsoever; it can be disabled in the Android settings.

5. In-App Purchase "Parking Reminder Pro"

The app offers an optional, one-time in-app purchase. The purchase and its payment are handled exclusively by Google Play. The provider receives no payment details and no name or address of the user — only the information from Google Play whether a valid purchase exists for this Google account.

To obtain that information and to carry out the purchase, the app communicates with Google through the Google Play Billing library. Google processes the user's Google account as well as device and purchase data as an independent controller; Google's privacy policy applies. The purchase status is additionally stored locally on the device so that the Pro features remain usable without an internet connection.

The app remains fully usable without the purchase; nobody is required to buy it. The Pro features backup and CSV export write files to the location the user picks when saving. If that location is a cloud storage service, the data leaves the device and the terms of the respective provider apply.

6. Legal Basis

Processing is based on consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR) or to fulfill user services requested by the user. The in-app purchase is processed in order to perform a contract (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR).

7. Disclosure to Third Parties

Beyond the online services described in sections 4 and 5, no data is shared with third parties. In particular, no parking spots, photos, videos or notes are transmitted, and the app contains no advertising, tracking or analytics services.

8. Storage Duration

Parking spots, photos and settings are stored as long as the app is installed. Deleted spots are moved to a trash where they can be restored or permanently deleted. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data from the device.

9. Security

All data is stored locally on the device and protected by the device's security features.

10. Rights of Data Subjects

Users have the right to information, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability and revocation of consent. Please direct inquiries to agrauf67@gmail.com.

11. Uninstallation

Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data from the device, including parking spots, photos and settings.

12. Changes to Privacy Policy

Changes will be published within the app and take effect upon the next update.
