Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
This privacy policy informs about the type, scope and purpose of processing personal data when using the app Shopping Manager Classic.
2. Permissions Used
The app requests the following permissions, each only when you first use the feature that needs it:
- Camera — Used to take photos of your items and to scan barcodes. The camera is only accessed when you actively take a photo or open the scanner. Photos are stored locally on your device. The permission is optional; the app also works without it.
- Notifications — Used only to remind you of a planned purchase at the time you set. The permission is optional; without it the app works, you simply receive no reminders.
Selecting an existing image from your gallery is handled through the Android system photo picker and does not require any additional permission.
3. Processed Data
- Shopping items and their details (name, quantity, unit, price, note, aisle, priority, tax flags, coupon, barcode, last and planned purchase dates)
- Shops, categories and units you create
- Recipes with their ingredients, preparation steps and photos
- Photos of items taken with the camera or selected from your gallery
- One or more shopping lists/databases
- User settings (language, theme, color scheme, font sizes, display and sorting options)
- CSV files that you choose to import or export
- If you enable cloud sync: the credentials for the cloud storage you selected and your sync password, stored encrypted on the device (Android Keystore) and never transmitted
4. Storage and Transmission
All data is stored locally on the user's device using a local database and local app storage. Nothing is transmitted to external servers or third parties unless you ask for it; the app contains no ads and no tracking. If you choose to export or share a list (e.g. via email or another app), the data is handed to the app you select.
Two features use an internet connection. Both are optional and only become active through an explicit action on your part:
- Barcode scanner: when you scan an unknown barcode, only the barcode number is sent to Open Food Facts (openfoodfacts.org) to suggest a product name. No other data is transmitted.
- Cloud sync (Pro): your lists are encrypted end-to-end with your sync password and uploaded only to the cloud storage you choose (Nextcloud or WebDAV). The sync password never leaves your devices, and the app's operator has no access to the data.
5. Legal Basis
Processing is based on consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR) or to fulfill user services requested by the user.
6. Disclosure to Third Parties
No data is shared with third parties. The app contains no advertising, tracking or analytics services.
7. Storage Duration
Items, photos, lists and settings are stored as long as the app is installed. Deleted items, shops and categories are moved to a trash where they can be restored or permanently deleted. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data from the device.
8. Security
All data is stored locally on the device and protected by the device's security features.
9. Rights of Data Subjects
Users have the right to information, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability and revocation of consent. Please direct inquiries to agrauf67@gmail.com.
10. Uninstallation
Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data from the device, including items, photos, lists and settings.
11. Changes to Privacy Policy
Changes will be published within the app and take effect upon the next update.
